Thinking about commissioning a painting or drawing?
Here are some things to think about:
- What is the subject matter: Portrait, Landscape, Still Life, or Narrative?
- Is it a portrait of a group: a couple, familiy, or business partners?
- Painting from life gives the finished work a unique quality. Is the subject available for a sitting or would I need to work from a photograph? Do you have a favorite photo of the subject that I could work from?
- How much time does the sitter have available to pose for a portrait?
- What media would you like: watercolor, oil on panel or canvas, charcoal, graphite, or pen and ink?
- What size painting or drawing best meets your needs? Note that if the work is to be framed that the outside dimensions will be larger.
- What is your time frame? When do you need delivery? An oil painting can be delivered as early as two months or could take a year depending on the complexity and size of the image.
- What is yor budget? How much can you invest in an object of enduring value?
